New building permits exceed 45,000 units through April

New housing construction permits reached 45,280 units through April, 8.6% more than in the same period last year, when 41,696 permits were registered, according to data from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

In April alone, the number of building permits for new housing fell by 19.83% compared to the same month in 2024, with 9,178 units.

In the first four months of the year, 8,918 new construction permits were granted for single-family homes, an increase of 4.51% over the previous year, while the number of permits for apartment buildings increased by 9.9%, with 36,351 units.

Likewise, the statistics show that 11 new building permits were registered for other types of buildings that are neither single-family homes nor apartment buildings until April, 87.50% less than in the same period in 2024.

The data for the fourth month of the year alone showed 2,160 new building permits for single-family homes, 2.88% less than in the same month of 2024; 7, 008 for apartment buildings (-24.01%), and 10 permits for other types of buildings that are neither single-family homes nor apartment buildings, compared to two permits in the previous year.

The statistics also show that the average surface area per dwelling in April was 188.4 square metres for single-family dwellings and 112.2 square metres for dwellings in blocks.
